Postcolonial Movie Review

Image
Midnight's children novel written by Salman Rushdie. The novel described India 's transition from British colonialism to Independence and partition of India. film based on novel Midnight's children which was  directed by Deepa Mehta. The film is narrated in many ways like, Freedom struggle, hybrid identities, magic realism. Hybridity :- Saleem is a perfect representation of the hybrid man.  He is a character of mixed backgrounds the son of colonial named Methowold and a poor indian women vanita and raised as a son of the middle class sinais. Adam, son of Shivd Parvati, which also a mixture of identity.  Magical realism :- The Magical realism narrative adds beauty and vigor of the historical events represented in this movie otherwise movie become boring to watch. The midnight children not be ordinary kids, they had supernatural powers. Saleem's incredibale sense of smell.  Parvati doing magic as a real art of her. Abracadabra, which invisibility basket sig...

Shashi Throor

Image
Shashi Tharoor is member of parliament, he given postcolonial argument. He written a book on that  'An Era of Darkness'.  He asserts that Britishers are not developers of any colonies. According to him real Thugs Of Hindustan were Britishers, in the name of free trade they are looting the Indians. In a way the word loot is a Hindi word and they taking the word in their dictionary. This is how Shashi Tharoor make a satire on British Empire.  Shashi Tharoor make claims that, when the Britishers were left in 1947 from India, 90% of the population living below the poverty line. The growth rate of India from 1900 to 1947 was 0.001%. Britishers imposed taxes on the import of Indian textile. In real sense they make fool of Indians in the name of business and achieved captive market    That is private profit of English and public risk of Indian.   Many Indians died because of them.During second world war in the great Bengal phenomenon , 4 million peopl...

Orientalism

1) Orientalism tries to answer the question of why, when we think of the Middle East for example, we have a preconceived notion of what kind of people lives there, what they believe, how they act. Even though we may never have been there, or indeed even met anyone from there. More generally Orientalism asks, how do we come to understand people, strangers, who look different to us by virtue of the colour of their skin?” 2)   How do we understand the natives we are encountering so we can conquer and subdue them easier? This process of Orientalism makes this general process more formal in that it presents itself as objective knowledge. Said identifies "Napoleons"  conquest of Egypt in 1798 as marketing a new kind of imperial and colonial conquest, that inaugurates the project of orientalism. 3) In American Orientalism The differences between different kinds of Orientalisms are in effect the differences between different experiences of what is called the Orient. Edward ...

Recently we watched 'Breathe' the shortest play by Samuel Beckett, to understand the concept of the theatre of absurd. When we watched these types of absurd play we feel that nothing happens on the stage but there is always something behind nothing. Nothing happens without purpose. Even our existence on the earth is for some reason. This play is very short but it say many thing about life. First of all the title of this play itself says everything. 'Breath' which means the process of inhalation and exhalation. By first watching of this video we didn't get proper meaning and also we can't see the clear meaning of it. At the beginning of this video we see nothing in proper place all thing are look's like garbage. We also listen someone's breath in this video it show with the garbage. It can be interpreted as that the sound of breath suggest deep harsh of someone. We can also say that human world is full of thought which lead's us nothingness....

Roner Frost's Poem : Design

The poem begins with a simple set up, the first three lines introduce us to the maum characters. We have a nih white spider on a white flower, period to eat a white moth. But that's the crucial 'If' of the last time: if design does govern these small things. One of the most difficult poem design, an Italian sonnet by Robert Frost was published in 'A further Range' in 1936. Is the expression of the poet's mysterious existence of the world surrounded by omens and evil design. It's explorese the noyinn that nature and the whole universe is designed by a malevolent intelligence. It's based on the everyday observation of spider on a floeef holding up a dead moth but essentially the poem is playing around with theological argument. This poem of finding evil in innocence, a somg of experience though the voice is hardly that of Blake's child-like singers the joking fiscobery develops gradually through series of contradictory picture. 'A white he...

The film was helped in many ways to better understanding of the play. We are thankful to ma'am, for arranged the screening. The film was very faithful to the play we can find same kind of plot, or we say there was nothing changes from the play.  The play and the film has trilogy, 1 The Homecoming, 2 The Hunted, and 3 The Haunted When film begins Seth Beckwith, the gardener and trustworthy of Mennon family, he converses with the visitors, about Brigadier General Ezra Mennon's journey from judge to brigadier.
