Ans - The term “Archetypal” means, a literary device, an archetype is a reoccurring symbol or motif throughout literature that represents universal pattern of human nature. It can also refer to the original model on which all other things of the same kind are based. “Archetypal criticism” means denotes recurrent narrative design, identifying pattern of action, character types, themes, and image in literature as well as in myths, dreams and even social rituals.

Q-2 What is Frye trying prove by giving an analogy of ' Physics to Nature' and 'Criticism to Literature'?

Ans - Northrop Frye prove that " Physics to Natuer" and " Criticism to Literatuer" because physics is a systematic and organized study of natuer , basically science is only study of natuer similarly criticism is a systematic and scientematically study of literatuer, because we learn criticism not literatuer because " Impossible to learn literature".

Ans - Criticism as an organised body of knowledge , in literatuer History and Philosophy both are the main pillar of it.Because literatuer means Humanities and History deals with Events and philosophy deals with Ideas. so both are strongly connected with literatuer.

Q - 4 Briefly explain inductive method with illustration of Shakespeare's Hamlet's Grave Digger's scene.

Ans - The inductive method of analysis structural criticism and analysis. The close first section, Fry contends that structural criticism will help a reader in understanding a text in his analysis, he proceeds inductively. That is form of particular truth. The jealousy, Othello, in the Shakespearean play. This called inductive method of analysis under structural criticism and Fry disuses this in detail in this section of the essay.

Ans - The deductive method of analysis deals with the established meaning of work from the general truth to particular truth. So to explain deductive method of analysis here Frye illustrates Music and Painting and furthermore he also conveys that Music and Painting are general branch of literature while Rhythm is essential in both so
